Seeing the success from my first Coraline food video 'I eat Coraline food' on youtube, I decided to make a part 2!
If you haven't seen part 1, it's linked below:
Today we have a new cast! Starring:
Mr. Bobinsky's popcorn
Pre- Ms. Sprink and Ms. Forcible's performance
Cocoa beetles from Zanzibar
For the full video version of this page!
Let's start with Mr. Bobinsky's popcorn
This is when Coraline and Wybie get invited to watch Mr. Bobinsky's jumping mice performance. She snacks on some popcorn while enjoying the show.
It's very simple! Grab some popcorn kernels and some other essential ingredients.
Total time: 10 minutes Serves: 6
Ingredients:
2 tbsp oil
6 tbsp kernels
1 tbsp butter
Salt
Method:
Under medium heat, heat some olive oil on a pan. Pour in popcorn kernels with a lid to cover the pan.
After 5 minutes, the popcorn kernels will start to pop! Wait until all kernels have been popped.
Mix in some butter and salt into the popcorn.
Big one coming next...
Pre- Ms. Spink and Ms. Forcible performance
Coraline walks into the kitchen and finds the table full of food (pepperoni pizza, hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, chocolate cupcakes, nachos with salsa, cookies, lemonade)! She also finds a note written by her other mother letting her know about Ms. Spink and Ms. Forcible's performance. She also gets a new outfit- a navy blue sweater with white stars, black bottoms and blue boots!
The pizza
I followed Gennaro Contaldo’s 'How to make the perfect pizza'. Click the picture on the right to watch his!
His requires 2 hours of proofing the dough so be well prepared and plan ahead! You will need some extra salt, olive oil and semolina flour as these ingredients haven’t been mentioned in his recipe. I used his method to creating the pizza dough then topped the pizza with Coraline’s toppings.
I’m glad his recipe is a quick version for making pizza dough compared to Neopolitan pizza doughs. With the semolina flour part, I replaced semolina with breadcrumbs which worked wonders so thank you Gennaro for giving advice on the substitution!
Total time: approx. 3 hours
Serves: 4-5
Ingredients:
Gennaro Contaldo’s pizza dough:
500g flour
1 tsp salt
7g dry yeast
325ml warm water
My toppings
Passata sauce:
2 salad tomatoes
5 cloves garlic (minced)
1/3 cup purple onion (chopped)
2 tbsp tomato paste
Method:
Slice the salad tomatoes. Scoop out the seeds with a spoon
In a pot, sauté minced garlic and chopped purple onion on medium heat. Add in the tomatoes.
Simmer for 5 minutes on low heat. The tomatoes will start to loose their shape and soften up.
Add in the tomato paste for some colour and to thicken the sauce.
Vegan bio life non-dairy cheese alternative
1 cup shredded mozzarella
10 German pepperoni pieces
Method:
Prepare pizza dough according to Gennaro Contaldo’s recipe.
Spread passata sauce on top
Top with Vegan bio life non-dairy cheese alternative followed by mozzarella and pepperoni pieces.
Brownie cupcakes
I do not own the cupcake recipe as I am not at the point where I can trust myself with baking! I followed pretty simple sweet’s recipe linked below.
My frosting (I did what I could!)
186g Confectioner’s sugar
85.35 butter
2g cranberry powder
53g milk
3/4 Vanilla extract
Glacé cherries
Method:
Using an electric whisk, beat confectioner’s sugar, cranberry powder, milk and vanilla extract. Keep whisking the mixture until it becomes thick.
Top the brownie cupcakes with the frosting. Place a Glacé cherry on top of each cupcake.
Salsa
Making this salsa…garlic and chilli makes it fragrant!
Total time: 5 minutes
Ingredients: 224g cherry tomatoes (roughly chopped)
1/3 cup red onion (chopped)
1 garlic clove (minced)
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp cumin
Salt
Pepper
Lemon juice
Method:
Put all ingredients in a food processor and blend.
Lemonade
Don't the lemon slice on the jar's edge for the finishing touch!
You can substitute manuka honey with regular honey of course!
Total time: 5 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
2.5 cups water
3 tbsp Manuka honey
2 lemons (juiced)
Method:
Dissolve 1/2 cup water and honey on stove top. Then pour into a jar.
Mix in lemon juice and water.
Hot dogs
*For extra toppings, you can add in some fried onions, salsa and cheese!*
Total time: 8 minutes
Serves: 3
Ingredients:
3 brioche hot dog rolls
3 frankfurters
Method:
Warm up some brioche hot dog rolls in the grill then place frankfurters in each roll.
Grilled cheese sandwiches
“What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason!” – Miss Forcible
Total time: 15 minutes
Serves: 6
Ingredients:
1/2 red onion (sliced)
4 tbsp butter
1 cup vegan bio life cheese alternative (sliced into rectangles)
1/2 cup mozarella
6 slices white bread
1 green olive
Method:
Sauté the sliced red onions until soft. Set aside.
Spread butter on both sides of each toast. Heat one side of the bread on a pan under medium heat then place some vegan bio life cheese alternative on top followed by the sautéed red onions and mozzarella. Top with another slice of white bread. Hold the sandwich in place and flip to toast the other side of the sandwich. Repeat until this process twice for the other sandwiches.
Top with a green olive to match Coraline’s grilled cheese sandwiches!
Cookies
I bought store bought cookies, chocolate and milk chocolate flavours
Cocoa beetles
Coraline comes back to the other world after thinking the beldam has taken her real parents away from her. The beldam offers her some cocoa beetles while trying to ignore what Coraline is searching for, which is her real parents.
I followed Feast fiction's recipe but I made a few changes!
My version~
Ingredients:
200g dark chocolate
200g milk chocolate (35% cocoa solids)
Gold luster dust
1 tsp chopped hazelnuts per beetle
Mini fudge cubes
