Coraline's omelette and bacon breakfast

Updated: Mar 30, 2022

Bringing Coraline's food to life! Have you ever wanted to eat the food as seen in 'Coraline'? It's such a foodie film. Easy to make and ready in 10 minutes.

I am such a fan of the film that after watching the film, I read Neil Gaiman's novella and the graphic novel of it. I've been jealous that I didn’t get to study it in year 7! I studied Louis Sachar's 'Holes' in year 7 and when I was in year 9, the year 7s got to study 'Coraline'. Anyway a series of food from 'Coraline' will be up and let's fan over the food from the film.

Question: Who's your favourite character in Coraline?

Coraline's omelette breakfast This scene happens in the second half of the film. Coraline walks into the kitchen where her other mother is cooking her breakfast. While she prepares to eat, Coraline discusses a deal with the other mother to rescue her parents and the ghost children.

recreating an iconic scene (in my perspective!)

'I'll stay here forever and let you love me'- Coraline

Baby white mushrooms

I used these baby white mushrooms as they were similar to the size of the mushrooms Coraline's omelette. However, using other types of mushrooms will work equally fine! They appear differently depending on their size.

Substitute

Chestnut mushrooms/cup mushrooms

Streaky bacon

I used streaky bacon as they were more accurate to the look of the bacon in the film. Lay bacon on a rack above a tray to let the fat drip. If you're not too fussy about the look, substitute them with back bacon.

Substitute

Back bacon

Method of cooking: I grilled them in the grill but feel free to fry them in the pan until they are crispy and golden.
